The Scottish Borders Centre of Mission
The Scottish Borders Centre of Mission is based in Newcastleton and its main focus is The Grafted Project. Its work includes:
Working with and supporting Refresh Community Church through weekly house groups, outreach events and teaching.
Outdoor activities outreach - this includes mountain and road biking, walking football for over 50s and hill walking. Camping weekends are planned through the summer.
Mary's Teas - an outreach and befriending ministry among the elderly and isolated in Newcastleton, working in partnership with Refresh Community Church.
Children's and schools work - this includes: 'Stepping Stones' for 0-4 year olds, 'Boulder Gang' and 'Rock Solid Crew', a weekly outreach for primary school children and weekly school visits and assemblies in Newcastleton Primary School.
Spree in the Borders - an annual outdoor activity-based camp for young people aged 8-18, based at Whithaugh Park, Newcastleton, in partnership with Rock UK and Urban Saints. Grafted regularly take around 50 young people each year.
A twice-weekly youth work in partnership with Scottish Borders Council.
'Window of Time' community drop-ins for those seeking help with mental health issues, loneliness and substance and alcohol misuse. These are run in partnership with the local church in Hawick & Galashiels.
Men's bible study and faith questions - this involves a weekly 'Soul' group for men who wish to explore the Christian faith over coffee and cake.
