What People Say About Our Work
In our work to make a difference in people's lives; we work in partnership with others to share the Christian message of words and action in relevant and sensitive ways. Our strength lies in the breadth of our work.
Here's what people say about Church Army's work:
"Until I became involved with the
Valley of Hope project, I could never open a brown envelope. Now I can and I can face these obstacles knowing you're there to help if I have a problem."
Martin, a resident of Church Army's
Valley of Hope project
"It helped me back on my feet. Without Ty-Bronna there would be a lot more people on the streets."
Rachel, young person, speaking of Church Army's
Ty-Bronna project
"Thank you for talking to us about Church Army, it was a brilliant talk....I would also like to be like Steve one day. When you asked us to do something good for another peson, well I did that. I remember what you said about the boy who made a difference by caring about the people and creatures around us. You inspired me about mission, and I pray the prayer you taught us."
Year 6 pupil, Cofton Junior School, Orpington
"My heart has been filled with so much sadness over the years as I have watched my daughter's life spin out of control in an ever increasing downward spiral where I was beginning to think that all hope had gone. The telephone call from her to tell me that she has been given sanctuary at Marylebone made me realise that all hope was not lost. You are truly wonderful people."
Mother of resident of Marylebone Project
"It is hard to tell a story about fresh expressions of church and church planting without referring to the excellent work Church Army does in these areas."
Paul Bayes, the National Mission and Evangelism Adviser for the Archbishops' Council
"So often young people have a reputation of not caring - the work of Streetreach demonstrates that is not always the case. Through their work in Belfast with refugees, cleaning up community areas, giving away flowering baskets and taking old age pensioners on trips, they present a positive image of young people who want to make a practical difference to their community. Thank goodness we have young people in our midst who care like this - hats off to them."
Eamonn Holmes former GMTV and National Lottery Jet Set presenter
"We, the four Church Leaders, are delighted to commend the Streetreach project. It offers young people an excellent opportunity to connect with the needs of the local community and build new relationships that extend their understanding of 'faith into practice'."
The four Church Leaders in Ireland
"Thanks to college training I have gained a wealth of knowledge to assist me in this exciting challenge. It has enabled me to think in a way that encourages creativity, discover, and experiment with how we communicate the gospel and create Christian community that is relevant to context and culture."
Darren Fraser, Church Army evangelist
"I have trained with Church Army because it equips me to do the work God wants me to do."
Kinder Kalsi, Church Army evangelist-in-training
"I strongly support the exciting, life-changing work that is being done on the Page Moss estate and encourage you to get involved to support this great cause that is transforming children's lives."

Kidz Klub, on the Page Moss estate, Liverpool

A story from a regular at the Malt Cross Project in Nottingham: "I first came here to meet friends before and after the 2004 Goose fair. The Malt Cross is a regular place that I meet friends and I feel very comfortable here. One Saturday, needing to escape the confines of the house I lived in, I came here to write for about 8hrs. Since then it has become my favourite place, not just in Nottingham but anywhere, to be, to write, read, meet friends, some of whom are now the people who work here! It is my second home, and some friends call you guys my second family. I know that I can walk in here anytime to find a place where I am happy and peaceful, and a whole bunch of smiles from people who always look genuinely happy to meet me. I love the Malt Cross and I love everyone who works here, sometimes those smiles make my day worthwhile."
"Rob Barker and the Bus Project have helped to change the lives of young people in our Diocese."
The Right Rev. Robert Ladds, Bishop of Whitby
