Church Army’s Gospel Rocky hits 100,000 landmark… have you seen it yet?
Church Armys Captain Frank McGregor and his Gospel Rocky Theatre Company recently entertained around 350 children and adults at the newly opened Queens Theatre in Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
With a stage crew and cast of 40 adults and children, the company tours theatres and churches with the show A reason to celebrate. Written in panto-style with lots of audience participation, the show introduces family audiences to Gospel Rocky, a 7ft stick of seaside rock who drives a jet-ski and plays guitar in his own rock band. The show is written and directed by Frank McGregor, a former professional actor who studied at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. Frank and the company have now entertained over 11,000 people in 20 theatres up and down the UK and Ireland since the show was launched. Over 100,000 sticks of specially produced Gospel Rocky rock have been given away to audiences - the rock has JESUS running right through the centre because, as Frank says, JESUS is what the show is all about.
Frank adds I gave my life to Jesus when I teamed up with a Christian drama group in Lincoln and my hope is that Gospel Rocky will be used to help others do the same - through our stage shows and other evangelistic events.
