Marylebone Women’s Day Centre students celebrate success
Women at the Church Army Womens Day Centre enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food and karaoke at their end of year celebration. The women successfully completed courses in computing, basic skills and numeracy. Maria Hagi-Palvi, Day Centre Manager said; The reason for this presentation is a celebration and acknowledgment of the students achievements and it is a stepping stone into mainstream education.

The Church Army Womens Day Centre is the first day centre in the UK dedicated to homeless women providing safe and friendly environment for women with multiple needs.
The courses are run in partnership with Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES). Emma Bowman, WAES Community Co-ordinator said This is one of many partnerships we have with community groups which is essential in order to deliver learning to hard to reach groups. Maria Hagi-Palvi added Weve worked in partnership with WAES for over four years and it is through this partnership that we have been able to develop and progress a variety of courses for the women who use our services.
Edwin Bates Church Armys Homelessness project co-ordinator was delighted:- The highly professional education service offered through the day centre continues with ever increasing demand and we are proud that 45% of the women who have contact with our day centre are engaged in regular educational activities as a result of this partnership with WAES.
Successful student Melva, said; Ive thoroughly enjoyed it, it was educational and well worth doing and Ill keep on doing it. One of the students, Rebecca, commented I really enjoyed the course and it helped me improve my form filling - the tutor was really helpful and supportive. Ill definitely be doing another course in September.
