Mel Gibson’s labour of love, “The Passion of the Christ,” has been the surprise movie hit of the season, with expectations that it will soon make more money than “Star Wars”. Now you can find out more about the issues raised in the movie, thanks to Church Army’s word-on-the-web ministry

Andrew Wooding, Editor of word-on-the-web and the writer of “The Passion of the Christ” week of studies, explains: “Easter is coming up, and each year we choose a passage from the gospels to look at the Easter story in more detail. Naturally, with ‘The Passion of the Christ’ on everyone’s lips, it seemed right to tie in our studies with the contents of the film.”

For seven days, starting on Saturday 3rd April, subscribers will receive short emailed Bible studies, looking at scenes from “The Passion of Christ”, as well as verses from John’s gospel. Issues to be tackled will include: the alleged anti-Semitism of the movie, theories about Jesus’ death on the cross, and the challenge that the movie presents, both for believers and non-believers.
