Thank You Visa - Say Church Army
Church Armys Marylebone Project - the UKs first day centre dedicated to homeless women, and the only one of its kind in London, was recently helped out by an action team of 8 people from VISA, who spent some of National Volunteers Week cleaning up the courtyard of the womens day centre, painting, replanting flower beds and restoring the wall mural. VISA were contacted by Catherine Conway of Westminster Volunteer Bureau, who was pleased to supply the labour needed to help the Marylebone Centre get back into shape as part of the 'Time for Paddington' waterside development programme. The Marylebone project is based in Cosway Street, close to the Edgware Road.
Edwin Bates Church Armys Homeless Projects Co-ordinator and Church Army Board Member commented: Who needs Tommy Walsh and Charlie Dimmock when the business community pulls out the stops to help local projects in this way. We are delighted that VISA responded so positively to the challenge of putting our courtyard back into shape. The staff and people who use the centre really appreciate the work that has gone in and this could not have been possible without the 'Time for Paddington scheme' - and our very own VISA Groundforce.
