Bishop of Derry backs Get OUT More campaign

The Rt Revd Ken Good, Bishop of Derry and Raphoe has enthusiastically backed Church Army’s call to for this year’s  on 25th September.

campaign aims to encourage and equip churches to develop an effective Christian presence in practical situations such as car boot sales, pub quizzes, meeting the needs of clubbers and in other situations.

Bishop Ken has written to all parishes in Derry and Raphoe with the following message: “I urge parishes to include in their autumn planning, Church Army Sunday on 25th September 2005 , with its imaginative focus . We all recognise the need for encouragement to be more outwardly focussed, and in this diocese we are well aware of how effective the Church Army is in helping our churches build valuable bridges into the community.

The challenge which this year’s Church Army Sunday presents us with is not just an opportunity to give financial and prayer support (both of which are vital), but an invitation to enter into the spirit of the day by arranging an event that makes a meaningful link between church life and a real community need. So let’s get out there and make a difference! And let’s thank God for the Church Army.”
