Fresh Expressions Director backs Church Army’s central role in mission

Rev Dr Steven Croft, Archbishops’ Missioner and Director of Fresh Expressions has backed Church Army’s creative and innovative approach to mission and evangelism in an exclusive interview given in the latest issue of Share IT! Church Army’s supporter's magazine.

Dr Croft has the task of resourcing and encouraging a major movement of mission and change across the churches in every diocese and district by renewing the vision of the church; gathering news of what is happening where; supporting growth through a network of mission accompaniment and developing pioneering training for lay and ordained ministries.

Church Army was praised by Steven as “one of the very few centres of expertise in the field of fresh expressions of church and as such is hugely important," as he spoke to hundreds of Church Army evangelists earlier this year when he led the bible studies at the society’s annual conference held at High Leigh Hertfordshire.

In his interview with David Coleman, Church Army’s Communications Manager; the Revd Dr Croft is very supportive of Church Army’s pioneering work: “My hope is to see many different fresh expressions of church developing over the next five years. I'm using the figure 10,000 as a spur to my own prayer and thinking. The work Church Army is doing with its key projects and pioneering evangelists will make a very positive contribution to this objective and help many more people find faith and engage positively with the work of the church.”
