New Archbishop of York should be “out of the box thinker”, urges Johanson

As Dr David Hope preached his final sermon as Archbishop of York this weekend, Philip Johanson, Church Armys Chief Secretary, has called for an open minded risk taker capable of out of the box thinking to be appointed as the next Archbishop of York. In a story in yesterdays Yorkshire Post by Brian Dorks, Johanson urges the Crown Nominations Commission to consider three names in particular. These include: Colin Fletcher (Bishop of Dorchester), John Pritchard (Bishop of Jarrow) and Graham Cray (Bishop of Maidstone). Johanson promotes these as having recent proven experience of equipping people for mission, starting up new churches and developing effective expressions of Christian Community.
