As Dr David Hope preached his final sermon as Archbishop of York this weekend, Philip Johanson, Church Army’s Chief Secretary, has called for “an open minded risk taker capable of out of the box thinking”  to be appointed as the next Archbishop of York.

In a story in yesterday’s Yorkshire Post by Brian Dorks, Johanson urges the Crown Nominations Commission to consider three names in particular. These include: Colin Fletcher (Bishop of Dorchester), John Pritchard (Bishop of Jarrow) and Graham Cray (Bishop of Maidstone).

Johanson promotes these as having recent proven experience of equipping people for mission, starting up new churches and developing effective expressions of Christian Community.
