Archbishop Rowan Backs Church Army Sunday’s Get OUT More theme
The Archbishop of Canterbury The Most Revd and Rt Hon Rowan Williams has lent his support to the theme of Get OUT More for this years
on 25th September.
Dr Williams comments: It gives me great pleasure to be able to commend this year's Church Army Sunday, and the imaginative materials that have been produced to accompany it. The Church Army is at the forefront of initiatives in evangelism which involve local churches engaging with their communities. I pray that this focus to Get OUT More will receive widespread support and encourage churches in their own outreach."
This years Church Army Sunday campaign aims to help equip churches to develop an effective Christian presence in everyday situations in the community such as at car boot sales, pub quizzes, and meeting the needs of clubbers. The challenge to Get OUT More has the backing of Christian agency Activate, Carterton's Necklace Project and the support of the Bishop's of Derry , Durham and Newcastle .
Church Army has around 350 evangelists whose aim is to share the Gospel through words and action. Their work can generally be described as pioneer evangelism - seeking to reach people that are otherwise outside the churchs influence. Church Army also finds new ways for parishes to be mission-shaped enabling them to have a sharper cutting edge in their mission activities.
