Church Army Evangelist spearheads first Café Church in Sheffield
15 May 2006
Church Army Evangelist Kinder Kalsi spearheaded the launch of Sheffield's first café church on Sunday May 14th, to help connect with those who are both outside and on the edge of church life.
'The Well' at St Bart's Church, Langsett, will offer worship and prayer, alongside an informal approach to church through conversation, discussion, videos and refreshments - in a relaxed café environment.
It has been introduced in response to the changes in society and culture, which has led to a need to develop new ways of sharing faith.
A trial run of 'The Well' saw the congregation almost double, and led Church Army's Kinder Kalsi, to form a permanent café church.
Speaking at the launch Kinder said: "The success of the trial was beyond our wildest expectations. The feedback we got was tremendous and everyone we spoke to encouraged us to make it a regular event".
He added: "Our main aim is to engage with those who are beyond the reach of church for whatever reason, but also have a belief in God. Working alongside the conventional ways of church and worship, we are confident we can speak to them and help them recognise God working in their lives."
The Church has undergone a major refurbishment in preparation for the launch of the Well, which will operate every Sunday at 5.00pm.
