word-on-the-web Da Vinci Code studies gain radio interest

1 May 2006

Andrew WoodingLess than two weeks before the release of the big budget movie adaptation of Dan Brown's controversial thriller, The Da Vinci Code, Britain's airwaves were buzzing about the issues raised in the book - thanks to Church Army evangelist, Andrew Wooding.

On the morning of Sunday, 30th April, Andrew did a marathon eight radio interviews with BBC radio stations around the United Kingdom. From the studios of BBC Radio Sheffield, Andrew spoke to listeners in Newcastle, Humberside, Cornwall, York, Cambridgeshire, Guernsey, Sheffield and Oxford, with possibly more interviews to follow in the days to come.

To coincide with the release of the film, author, broadcaster and Church Army evangelist, Andrew Wooding will publish seven daily emails through www.word-on-the-web.co.uk looking at aspects of The Da Vinci Code in bite-sized 300-word chunks. Andrew comments: "These are ideal for fans of The Da Vinci Code, for those who looking for truth, and for Christians who want to be informed about what all the fuss is about."

Much has been made of the conspiracies, cover-ups, theories about Jesus and accusations against the church at the heart of Dan Brown’s novel. Wooding continues: "Rather than critiquing the book and the film, I will be exploring what God might be saying to us through the popularity of the book.  What nerves is it touching for 40 million people to want to read it and the millions more who are awaiting the film’s release?"
