Mark Russell launches Get Out More at youth action weekend
18 July 2006
- the theme for Church Army Sunday on 24th September 2006 has been launched by Church Army's new Chief Executive Officer designate Mark Russell as he worked as part of a the Pulse team at Out There - a youth action weekend involving over 150 young people from 16 local churches in the Amersham, Chesham, Little Chalfont and Chorleywood areas of Hertfordshire and South Buckinghamshire.
Church Army's new CEO rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in to some hands on practical work cleaning up gardens, clearing rubbish and washing windows as part of this weekend of very practical service to the local community.
Mark commented, "We want to show people Jesus' love in practical ways - it is easy to talk about it and go to church on Sunday but this is about getting off our pews and getting our hands dirty." Mark took time out to offer a few words of encouragements to Churches about the theme of Get Out More for this year's Church Army Sunday and added, "Church Army is at its best when challenging the church to get out of its comfort zone and its buildings. I really hope and pray that you will encourage your church to use the excellent resources Church Army has made available to help you to get out more to share the gospel through words and action in your community."
