20 Oct 2006

Edna Darko-SarkwaChurch Army has appointed Edna Darko-Sarkwa as its new Head of Fundraising. Edna joins Church Army at an exciting time of change, following the charity's recent appointment of Mark Russell as Chief Executive.

The fundraising team is charged with raising money from donors to support the work of around 300 Church Army evangelists out in the field, making a difference in people's lives. Church Army currently receives about £1.6 million annually to support its activities.

"I am excited by the opportunities presented in this role", Edna says of her new appointment. "I think this is a great time to join Church Army and believe there are many opportunities to develop the fundraising strategy and build on the success already achieved."

James Archer, Church Army's Central Services Director added, "Church Army would love to be able to fund more evangelists to work among those that the church finds hard to reach but to do so we need to increase our donation income. Edna brings a wealth of fundraising experience to this challenging role."

Prior to joining Church Army, Edna has worked in the charity sector for the last four years as a freelance in fundraising and marketing management roles. Her most recent work was with the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK as National Campaigns Manager. Before that, she held various senior roles working for 4Children, BackCare and USPG.
