Adrian Prescott Push Karts

Over the last few Saturdays, children from  Kidz Klub located on the Page Moss estate in Liverpool have been getting creative and making push karts. The children got involved in the fun activity based on the popular 'Scrapheap Challenge' in which teams of contestants have a set amount of time, in which to build a working machine that can do a specific task, using materials available in a scrapheap.

Adrian Prescott, a Church Army captain at Kidz Klub, explains: "They designed, built and painted them as a fun activity based on 'Scrapheap Challenge'. Each team was given the same materials and an expert to help them. They were built side by side in Trinity Church with a lot of friendly teasing. On Saturday 28th April the Karts were raced outside and some parents came and joined in the fun.

"The Page Moss estate has a lot of children and they are often playing in the streets around the church. As a kid I used to make push karts and so I suggested to them if they would like to build one. From that came the idea of a challenge. Sometimes it's the simple values of fun and friendship that is most needed and that is what happened."

Kidz Klub is a fresh and exciting club for the children on Page Moss. Based at Trinity Church, the club is making a major difference to the lives of hundreds of families in inner-city Liverpool. Over 350 children children are registered at Kidz Klub, which puts over the Christian faith to young people in a fresh and exciting way that is closer to Saturday morning TV than traditional Sunday School.

Adrian adds, "As a Church Army captain I have only been on the estate for nearly two years and there are some great people here and I think we should talk about the many good things on the Page Moss estate."
