Church Army supporting Share

3 October 2007

Church Army are delighted to be supporting Share which launches this week www.sharetheguide.org

Share, a new easy to use web resource aimed at those leading and supporting fresh expressions of church, goes online on Thursday 4th October.

www.sharetheguide.org is heralded as one of the most important church growth resources for decades. It has the full backing from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr.Rowan Williams, and Dr Martyn Atkins, President of the Methodist Conference.

Share utilises knowledge management, the ability to recognise knowledge and experience as an important resource, to create a more effective and dynamic sense of what it means to be church.

Fresh Expressions has grabbed people's imaginations and resulted in hundreds of new church communities now existing side by side with more traditional church congregations.

Dr Williams told a recent meeting of the General Synod of the Church of England that Fresh Expressions were good news for the whole of the Church. More resources such as Share are urgently needed.

"Share is hugely important and a lot of work has gone into the development of it. We are particularly grateful to the Church Army for their enthusiastic support," said Dr Steven Croft, Archbishops' Missioner and Leader of Fresh Expressions.

"Church Army is thrilled to partner with Fresh Expressions increating the SHARE website, and we are immensely excited about the possibilities this website gives us to share knowledge and experience of fresh expressions. I congratulate my colleague Andrew Wooding on his hard work in this exciting project" says chief executive, Mark Russell.

Mike Moynagh and Andrew Wooding have worked on the new resource as members of the Fresh Expression team which is funded by the Lambeth Partners.

"We are talking here about learning networks, an online guide, the ability to ask questions and a blog. It's about sharing and exchanging good ideas," Moynagh said this week.

He urged all church leaders and those concerned about mission to visit, spend some time and contribute to the site.

Dr. Croft believes that the essence of Share is that in adopting and adapting knowledge management in terms of emerging church, a tremendous amount of shared knowledge is available which is both pure and extremely valuable.
