New film of hope is a reminder that faith involves action and not just words
8 May 2008
Hope Where You Live, the latest film free to download from www.hopeinfo.co.uk, calls people to "be the hope" in the lives of others - particularly the vulnerable, isolated, sick and hungry in our society, and those in prison.
The film is a snapshot of a typical day on the streets of London, set against a new music track from Brussels based Joy and Renoar 'I'm in love with this world'. Joy says,
"
The emotion and strength of the images inspired us to compose a new track. There was a sensitivity and a sadness in the shots, a sadness that we wanted to contrast with an uplifting song about the beauty of the world."
Hope where you live is the third film from www.hopeinfo.co.uk, and is timed to provide a reminder to people of faith that Jesus commanded his followers to be the hope to all those around them - particularly those in most obvious need.
Gareth Squire, Director of the Christian Enquiry Agency, one of the two main partners in the website, says: "The message of Jesus was very clear. We are responsible for our actions and our inaction. Yet we can fall into the trap of believing that love is just a feeling, and that faith is just something that happens in our minds. We couldn't be more wrong. We need to embody the hope we have in us."
Released today on hopeinfo.co.uk, Facebook and You Tube, the two minute film was made in support of the national Christian initiative Hope 2008, which is encouraging, supporting and resourcing churches to engage with their communities. As part of the current Hope'08 'high point', churches are logging a million hours of kindness in the community. Ian Chisnall, Coordinator of Hope 2008 says;
"'Hope Where You Live' is a vital part of the Hope year. This film is a fantastic way of connecting our practical activities to the uncompromising words of Jesus."
www.hopeinfo.co.uk also features information on specific projects that are having a transforming impact on people's lives, such as Church Army's Marylebone project for homeless women.
