Mark Russell calls people to a renewed urgency for mission

6 August 2008

Mark RussellLast month, Church Army's Chief Executive, Mark Russell gave a key note address to 600 people at New Wine, a conference aimed to envisioning and empowering Christians and churches for worship which is passionate, intimate, reverent and biblical, held in Sligo west coast of Ireland.

Mark spoke about mission, and said the Church needed a renewed urgency for mission. At the end of his address Mark made an appeal, for someone to come forward and give their life to Christ, but no one came forward. "It threw me a bit, I was convinced there was someone here who needed to get their life right with God". Mark continued with his ministry, when half way through a young man called Jonny stepped forward announcing his need to give his life to God. Mark prayed with Jonny.

Since the New Wine conference, Mark has kept in touch with Jonny and through email Jonny has shared that 'meeting Jesus at New Wine has really changed his life'. "Jonny is an amazing young man and I see in his life the transformation Jesus brings to a human life" says Mark.

Jonny says, "I feel more positive, I know God has a plan for my life, I'm energised in worship again and I have been praying with my parents."

Mark asks that we pray for Jonny, that God will continue to excite him more and more!
