Bishop returns to lead Church Army International

Bishop Harold DanielBishop Harold Daniel, a former Church Army Evangelist, has returned to his roots by taking on the Chairmanship of the Church Army International Council. The Rt Revd. Harold Daniel, The Bishop of Mandeville in the Diocese of Jamaica, was appointed during the recent Church Army International Leaders Conference held in Jamaica. He succeeds Church Army UK Chairman Roy Totten in the role.

The International Secretary of Church Army, Philip Johanson, said "Bishop Daniel is well placed to take on this responsibility, bringing as he does to the task first hand experience both of Church Army and a commitment to evangelistic mission.As a Church Army Evangelist himself he brings many years experience of international mission and a reputation as an in demand speaker at various mission and evangelism conferences."

Bishop Daniel, who is married to the Revd Canon Judith Daniel grew up in Montserrat and moved to England as a young man living and worshipping in North London. It was from there that he responded to a call to serve God and trained an Evangelist in Church Army. He spent eighteen years serving as a Church Army Evangelist in Jamaica working in various parishes, and also as the Diocesan Youth Evangelist. Following ordination he served in a number of parishes in the Kingston and Montego Bay areas. He was elected Suffragan Bishop of Mandeville in 2000.
