Changing the world one tenner at a time
1 April 2009
Church Army and Caris magazine want you to change the world ... with a ten pound note!
Inspired by the success of campaigns such as Make Your Mark, the two partner organisations are looking for the best way to turn a tenner into a profit that will also have a positive social impact.
Being the "handbag-size mag for girls with body, mind and soul", Caris seeks to tap into the energy and creativity of young women. And Church Army trains its hundreds of Evangelists to be creative in spreading "faith words action" throughout the UK and Ireland.
So they are asking girls who have an entrepreneurial flair to email their money-spinning ideas on how they will change the world with £10. Entries should be sent to: feedback@churcharmy.org.uk by 15 May 2009 and the top three ideas will be chosen by Church Army's Chief Executive Mark Russell. A £10 note will be given to each of the three lucky winners, for them to turn their ideas into reality! Caris readers will then have the chance to vote for their favourite idea.
Christine Miles, Caris magazine's Editor, has interviewed young girls to get their ideas on how to become £10 entrepreneurs. Miriam, aged 18, says: "I'd put my £10 towards materials to make cards. I would team up with a charity raising money from children, and include profiles of the kids on the cards. On the back of each card I'd include details about how people could donate to the charity."
That idea of Miriam's is your starter for £10 - now you can let us know how you would change the world at feedback@churcharmy.org.uk.
