"I am proud of Church Army", says Gordon Brown

On Monday 7 December, Church Army's Chief Executive Mark Russell, attended a special function for Christian leaders at 10 Downing Street.
Several Cabinet Ministers were present, in addition to the Prime Minister, John Hutton, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and Jack Straw the Justice Secretary. The Labour Party Vice Chair for Faith, Stephen Timms MP was also present.
Gordon Brown (pictured here with Mark) addressed the group of leaders and told them to be very proud of the work they are doing to make the country a fairer and more just place. He said Christian people were driven by a passion to see the world changed, to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
Mark spoke to the Prime Minister about the work of Church Army across the UK and Ireland. The Prime Minister showed great interest, and gave this message to Mark for all Church Army Evangelists and staff: "Thank you for all you are doing, you are doing amazing things, you are helping change people's lives, I am proud of you."
