Now a Christian - now a hit!
News Release: 28 June 2010
Six months after the launch of the Now a Christian website, a survey shows that the free, email-based course for new Christians has been a resounding success.
Designed and written by Church Army's Neil Thomson and Peter Graystone the course provides a series of very short emails, one per day for five weeks, which deal with everyday concerns about living out the Christian faith.
The survey by Church Army revealed that 76% of people who have encountered Now a Christian would recommend the website to their minister/parish. Now a Christian has also been praised for its down-to-earth style, practicality and convenience.
More than a quarter of those who registered for Now a Christian were recommended it by a friend, and over half its users are under 45.
Now a Christian is intended to be a 'signpost' for people who have made, or are about to make the first step as a Christian. It recognises that not every new Christian is ready to join a group or undertake an Alpha course until they have explored a little more about their new faith for themselves, in a safe and non-threatening way.
Neil Thomson explains it thus: "a programme to help new Christians explore the implications and understand the delights and complexities of what it is to follow Christ. The website backs this up with activities that allow the user to interact with fellow travellers on this journey."
