Soul Survivor satisfaction for Mark Russell

News Release: 24 August 2010

Soul Survivor 2010 Soul Survivor 2010 was another success for Church Army with hundreds of teenagers engaging with Make Jesus Famous and Now a Christian.

A team of volunteers staffed the Church Army stand in the Soul Survivor 'Toolshed' for two weeks, giving away Make Jesus Famous and Now a Christian stickers, and offering excited teenagers the chance to have their photo taken, many of whom obliged!

Chief Executive Mark Russell had a busy week, leading six seminars dealing with issues such as ‘Making your mark in school’, ‘Holding it together after divorce’, and ‘What would Jesus do about my church’. He also helped on the Soul Survivor enabling team, encouraging and praying for the many teenagers who became Christians over the two weeks.

Mark said: “Over 900 young people became Christians in Week B alone! That is simply stunning and it has been a fantastic week. Darren, Claire and Rebecca did a great job on the Church Army stand and had a constant stream of young people talking to them.”

There was also a positive response to our Shareit! magazine survey with nearly 90% of participants saying they would support Mark Russell’s call to host a summit of bishops, youthworkers and young people to look at how the church can improve its communications with young people.

Church Army continues its summer events programme with Greenbelt later this week. People will again have the opportunity to sign up to Make Jesus Famous and Now a Christian, and have their photo taken. There will also be a magic show from one of our multi-talented evangelists!
