Caprice serves Thanksgiving to homeless women
News Release: 26 November 2010
Supermodel and business woman Caprice Bourret made the American connection to Church Army's Marylebone Project yesterday, at a special Thanksgiving celebration. You can hear her radio interview at Methodist Web Radio.
Residents and clients of the Marylebone Project (the largest hostel for homeless women in London) were delighted to partake of a traditional American feast with all the trimmings. The Project works with vulnerable homeless women, empowering them towards independent living through helping them to make informed choices about their lives.
Caprice and fashion expert Brix Smith-Start were guests of honour at the event, which was sponsored by the American InterContinental University. AIU London is based on Marylebone High Street - as is the Project - and donated the meal as part of the University's wish to give something back to the local community.
Caprice and Brix carved the turkey and helped the AIU students to serve it to residents and clients of the Project. When asked what Thanksgiving meant to her, Caprice joked: "A major pig-out!" She went on to echo the words of Church Army President Archbishop Desmond Tutu when she described the women of the project as "very special people", and that she was "delighted to help serve the dinner and celebrate her Thanksgiving with everyone at the Project."
