Church Army becomes a Living Wage Employer

Church Army is pleased to announce it has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer - a scheme which was launched in 2001 to lift people out of poverty.The Living Wage is calculated annually by the Centre of Research in Social Policy according to the basic cost of living in the United Kingdom. There is a separate Living Wage for people working in London which is calculated by the Greater London Authority annually.
A Living Wage Employer ensures that all employees are paid at least the Living Wage with many employers reporting improved morale and a lower turnover of staff as a result.
The Living Wage Employer mark recognises and celebrates this leadership.
Mark Russell, Church Army Chief Executive, said:"I am delighted that Church Army is now a Living Wage Employer. This means that Church Army pays not just the minimum wage, but the Living Wage. "Church Army is committed to alleviating poverty and we believe signing up to be a Living Wage Employer is an important part of literally putting our money where our mouths are."
