Comments on What Christmas means to me

Christmas is a time of loving, of giving and of sacrifice. K. Baptist
"Joy to the world" was the first thing that came into my head - the fact that salvation for everyone began with the miraculous birth of a child. Now more than ever, it is the one time of the year when those who have no belief in Christ are prepared to listen to a 2,000-year old story of redemption (via nativity plays, carols, tv programmes and, even, rare attendance at a church service). For this reason, Christmas is probably still the best chance we have as evangelists to bring light of God into the darkness of the world. Richard
Christmas is a time when we can stop and think about what matters to us and those we love.
Christmas is a time to reflect on how awesome a thought it is that God became a human being to get so close to us.
Isn't it fantastic that this alegory or fable of a nativity story is still going strong after 2000 plus years?
For me, it's fantastic that the first people outside of Mary and Joseph that the angels told about the saviour's birth were the lowly shepherds. Jesus born from the line of David the shepherd boy has the good news of his birth proclaimed to shepherds; set himself up as both the good shpeherd who cares for his sheep and offered himself up for us as a scarificial lamb. We really should have lamb not turkey for our Christmas dinner.
Christmas is too much food (for some); too much drink (for some); too much money spent (on some) and not enough loive and peace (for all)
Christmas - What would Jesus do? probably abolish it!
