Worm Catching

Genesis 27

Get up before any of your neighbours would be up, and walk through your neighbourhood. Pray for the families you know and those you don't know, working your way strategically around an area. Pray for the days that they are about to wake up to. Pray that today will be different for them, right from the moment they wake, because you have prayed God's blessing on them. Recently I've been reading the stories of Genesis, and my mind has been blown by the power of a spoken blessing. Once a blessing has been spoken, even if it is to the wrong brother (as with Jacob and Esau), it cannot be retracted (verse 33). This is underlined when Israel is passing on a blessing to Joseph's children in Genesis 48:15-20.

Pray that today a window would open for your neighbours to see something of God at work in his world. If you're struggling for words, it may be good to slowly pray a repeated prayer at each stopping point, such as the one below. However leave space for God to prompt you in certain directions or prayers. There may be a specific family situation or current tension in an area that is beating on his heart. If you spot someone else doing it, greet them with a suitably secret signal!

Father God. Reveal your love and truth today to those who live in this small corner of your broken world. Heal here Lord. May your blessing rest here.
